My client is one of the world's leading financial service providers, operating principally in Europe but with operations across the globe. Due to an organizational restructure the tax body is undergoing significant change and a new team is being developed in the UK that you will take responsibility for.
You will be responsible for setting up the tax team in the UK from scratch. The role is broad and challenging covering front and back office. These will include advising on products, structures and organisational set-up across the business and support functions, optimisation of the tax position, managing tax risk and also taking control of the tax compliance cycle. Alongside this you will liaise with colleagues on cross- border issues, oversee all VAT matters and play a part in group planning. This merely touches on the depth and diversity the role can offer, and it truly is an exciting and challenging role.
You will be degree educated with an ACA/ CTA qualification or equivalent and it is a must that you have significant levels of financial services experience. This role not only necessitates someone with excellent all-round tax knowledge but also a very good commercial acumen (an insight into corporate finance, financial and corporate law and financial products for example) and understanding of the role tax plays across the business.
