Purpose:
The UK government introduced Research and Development tax credits to encourage UK companies to invest in innovation. An exciting opportunity exists for individuals with tax experience to join the new R&D tax group at Ernst & Young in London.
Accountabilities:
- Delivery of R&D tax claims for clients in various industry sectors. - Ensure technical tax excellence and practical costing approaches for identifying eligible R&D expenditure - Involvement with legislative tax matters - Support the development of the new R&D tax practise through involvement in setting R&D practise procedures - Project management abilities
Personal Qualities:
- Desire to specialise in new, cutting-edge team. - Strong UK corporate tax technical knowledge - Cost accounting and financial accounting abilities - Excellent excel spreadsheet abilities – pivot tables, data cleansing, look-up functions - Ability to develop approaches and solutions for extracting and calculating eligible R&D expenditure - Effective planning and monitoring of deliverables, budgeting and timescales - Flexibility in adapting to different industries - Communication skills – written and oral - Be able to work in a team based environment - Strong client relationship abilities
Experience/Qualifications:
- 3-5 years UK corporate tax experience - Tax technical skills - Professional qualification would be an asset - Ideally, but not necessary, experience with R&D tax credit claims
