Research Associate Asia
Knowledge Centre
The Asia-Pacific Knowledge Group is part of the IBFD’s Knowledge Centre, and is responsible for the contents of the various publications and client information requests on tax and investment matters in the Asia-Pacific region.
The Asia-Pacific Knowledge Group is based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and in addition to it research activities, represents the IBFD with regard to government consulting and tax training in the region.
Position
The research associate will be engaged as a country specialist for a number of designated Asian jurisdictions.
The position is based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Tasks and responsibilities
Publications
-Responsible for monitoring and reporting on tax, investment and company law and social security developments in designated Asian jurisdictions;
-Writing reports, articles, surveys and updates on the countries concerned for various IBFD publications; and
-Editorial responsibilities with respect to the IBFD publications.
Other Research Activities
-Provide information to clients on the jurisdictions concerned;
-Participate in research projects of the IBFD;
-Source treaties, laws, regulations and other pertinent information; and
-Represent the IBFD at technical conferences (including possible speaking engagements).
Other Activities
In addition to the above, and depending on your qualifications, you will have an opportunity to lecture on courses organized by the IBFD’s International Tax Academy and on a case-by-case basis, to provide support to the Government Consultancy Department, and to the Academic Affairs Department.
Profile
Knowledge and experience
-A university degree in law, accountancy or related areas (an LLM or other post-graduate degree in international tax would be an advantage);
-At least 3 years of professional experience with a tax/law/accounting firm, research institute or a governmental or international organization dealing with taxation; and
-Knowledge of and experience with the tax system of one or more Asian countries (preferably a South Asian jurisdiction, e.g. India).
Skills
-Fluent in English;
-Experience in editing and drafting in the English language;

-Computer literacy.
