My client has created a new role for a Senior Expatriate Taxes Specialist to work closely with the Head of Global Mobility in London. This Financial Services organisation employs over 75,000 across 115 nationalities. They are actively increasing their operation across Asia and are looking to grow over the next few years.
The role:
The role of the Employment Taxes Specialist (ETS) is to act as a Centre of Expertise for employment related tax matters, specifically supporting employment related tax policies and procedures. This involves ensuring that employment related tax risk throughout the Group is controlled and managed in accordance with Group policy and that tax withholding, reporting and payment liabilities are met in compliance with relevant legislation and standards.
The ETS will provide advisory expertise to local HR, HR Service Delivery, HRSSC and local Tax teams in employment taxation matters and act as a point of escalation and support in complex areas. The role includes facilitating governance oversight, identifying and executing tax planning initiatives and managing relationship with tax service providers
Key responsibilities:
?Implementation and execution of strategy for managing employment related tax risk, withholding, reporting and planning
?Implement and maintain relevant policies and controls in relation to employment related taxes
?Establish and maintain processes and frameworks to support policies and controls
?Provide advisory expertise/guidance to interested parties on all matters relating to employment taxes and reporting requirements to ensure effective and compliant execution of local processes improving compliance, process efficiency and tax-cost management for Bank in accordance with Group policy
?Assist in managing / minimizing above the line taxes in country or at group level and contributing to effective management of below the line taxes
?Assist to maintain positive relationships with external stakeholders (e.g. auditors, regulators, tax authorities etc) in relation to employment tax matters. Manage service relationship with employment tax related external advisers (e.g. Deloitte)
?Effective stakeholder engagement and management
Key measures:
?Efficiency and accuracy of employment related tax withholding and reporting in compliance with legislative requirements
?Contribution to reducing tax rates for the Bank
?Quality of outcome of tax audits and negotiations
?Effective project management
Qualifications & experience:
?Tax technical expertise in relation to generic and international employment tax matters (minimum of CTA qualified or equivalent)
?Strong relationship building and stakeholder management skills
?Strong communication, conflict management, judgment, facilitation and influencing skills
?The ideal candidate will either currently be a Senior Manager within a Big 4 or in a similar role in-house
?US Tax technical expertise are of an advantage
