My client is a leading international bank with significant revenue streams in Europe and in particular the UK. Covering both retail banking, insurance and significant investment activity the company is extremely diverse and this provides significant professional challenges. After undergoing a significant organisational restructure they are in the process of setting up a new element of the tax function which will initially comprise you and one other. This truly is an exciting and challenging time to come on-board and play a significant part in the organisation.
As Tax accountant you will be taking responsibility for all compliance and reporting matters. This will primarily be European based incorporating not just corporation tax but also VAT and employee tax matters. This will see you highlight areas of tax risk, monitor accounting treatment of transactions and support other business areas on tax impacts. Alongside side this you will undertake a large amount of ad hoc project work, taking complete responsibility for these as they arise.
You will be ACA qualified or equivalent with experience of the financial services sector. The role requires someone with an excellent knowledge of accounting principles and tax legislation (corporate tax, VAT, income tax etc). You will have prior experience of managing the tax basis, HMRC liaison and tax audit. The role requires someone with an excellent and up to date tax knowledge both in the UK and internationally, and a desire to continually update this and keep on to of new case law. This role will ideally suit someone who is pro-active and looking to really challenge themselves in a financial services environment.
