The role:
To focus on the tax reporting and compliance process of the newly merged Group and to
minimise the UK tax charge and tax payments arising from the Group's commercial activities. This is an ideal role for someone looking to make their first move into an in-house tax team, where you will gain invaluable commercial experience and build relationships across the business and with external advisors.
Key accountabilities are:
• Work with UK shared services centre on reporting process for year end, half year,
budgets and forecasts and preparation and review of Operating Company statutory
accounts tax accounting, taking responsibility for tax information presented to the
business and externally
• Produce tax returns, claims and elections and UK quarterly corporation tax payments on account calculations, taking responsibility for ensuring that all statutory deadlines are met.
• Keep up to date with changes in tax legislation and tax accounting, highlight planning opportunities and communicate impact to relevant parties.
• Work on certain group tax planning issues in relation to structure and financing.
Candidate Profile:
This role will suit a recently qualified tax professional who is looking for interesting and challenging tax work within a multinational company which is a leader in its sector. Along
with this, there will be ongoing mentoring and development to ensure continuing career
progression.
Personal experience / qualifications / skills:
• CTA and/or ACA qualified
• Strong UK tax exposure
• Ability to understand tax issues and convey the impact to a lay audience
• Presence and credibility. Increase the awareness of the Tax dept within the business
• Numeracy - ability to deal with complex spreadsheets
• Comfortable with using internal accounting systems and tax software (Abacus)
• A sense of humour and strong personality
