An opportunity has arisen within the Tax team for a Tax Accountant responsible for providing a comprehensive corporation tax compliance and accounting service to the Group. This position reports to the Senior Tax Accountant.
Key Responsibilities
· Completion and submission of Corporation Tax Returns for all Group companies - UK and overseas (Malta, Gibraltar, Ireland, Jersey, Isle of Man, Curacao)
· Dealing with queries from HM Revenue & Customs and overseas tax authorities on the tax returns
· Ensuring accurate calculation and payment of all corporation tax liabilities when due
· Providing a complete tax accounting service to the Financial Accounts Department covering both UK GAAP and IFRS and including:
o Reconciliation of the corporation tax accounts in the nominal ledger
o Provision of tax numbers for accounts purposes
o Review of tax disclosures in Group companies' statutory accounts
o Deferred tax
· Input of corporation tax numbers into the group's planning process and calculation of forecast effective tax rates for the Group.
· Involvement in identifying, assessing and implementing tax-planning opportunities in line with the group's tax strategy and risk management framework.
In addition the Tax Accountant will be expected to be involved in indirect taxes and to assist the Senior Tax Accountant with ad hoc work as and when required.
Qualifications and Experience
· Recently qualified accountant with a background or substantial experience in corporation tax
· Solid and upto date technical tax and accounting knowledge
· Comfortable with MS Excel and Word; JD Edwards experience would be an advantage
· Awareness of corporation tax compliance best practice
· Excellent interpersonal & communication skills and the ability to form productive relationships and work as part of a team
· Resilient with ability to work under pressure and with the energy and drive to keep going until the job is done
· Welcomes taking responsibility for own area of work
· Self starter able to work on own initiative with disciplined work ethic
