Leading international bank is looking to recruit a UK Tax Manager for its city based office.

The tax department exists to ensure the following:
* all UK entities identify, minimise and account for all their tax liabilities pursuant to their obligations under relevant law
* all necessary tax returns are prepared and submitted to HMRC or the relevant foreign fiscal authorities
* the relationship with HMRC is managed in the best possible way so that enquiries are dealt with expeditiously and pre-clearance of potentially contentious or uncertain matters is facilitated
* all necessary operational actions are identified and carried out
* an appropriate control environment exists to investigate, sanction the assumption of and manage tax risk so that:
* a) the operational, financial and tax risk implications of transactions are understood and all transactions with 'non-standard' tax implications are properly authorised within acceptable parameters of risk and benefit and
* b) the actions of the Tax Department itself are properly controlled
The job holder has primary responsibility for delivery to the relevant stakeholders of all relevant outputs in respect of the following:
* Corporate income taxes
* VAT
* Stamp Duties (C&I re SDLT on bank premises issues)
* Tax reporting (BBSI, CRS and FATCA)
* Employment taxes (C&I)
* Tax Accounting
* Relationship with HMRC
* Products and business risk assessments
* Tax opinions/advisory regarding management decisions
* Sign-off individual transactions/advisory
* Opinions re client tax integrity
* UK Tax Strategy publication
* Tax litigation and resolution
* Conduct of tax audits and inspections
* Senior Accounting Officer Notifications and Certifications
* TP Documentation
* CBCR and DAC6
What you'll need to succeed
Professional Qualifications:
Graduate chartered accountant, chartered certified accountant, chartered tax adviser or tax lawyer
Business Knowledge/ Technical Skills:
* Comprehensive UK Corporation Tax knowledge: tax base (loan relationships, derivative contracts, capital gains); CTSA compliance cycle and processes; loss reliefs and utilization.
* Bank taxes: Bank Levy; Bank Surcharge; BBSI and AEOI (FATCA and CRS); CATA
* Good working knowledge of the following: VAT including the principles of partial exemption; PAYE and the Benefits Code, NIC
* Background knowledge of: Stamp Duty, SDRT, SDLT and IPT
* Knowledge of financial products including derivatives, leasing and HP
* SAO rules, processes and governance
* Excellent accounting knowledge and skills including knowledge of IFRS and accounting standards.
* Transfer pricing including the attribution of profit to permanent establishments
* International tax principles of source and residence, beneficial ownership, credit, and exemption.
Systems Knowledge/ Skills:
* Advanced Excel skills
* Comfort in using Web-based research tools (e.g., CCH, Tax Analysts) and e-filing applications (e.g., TR Onesource)
