Our client is a private investment company with a family office in central London.


Trust and Taxation Manager reporting directly to the Chief Executive.

Compliance responsibilities

* Preparation of annual tax returns for 80-90 individual clients
* Preparation of annual tax returns for 40-50 Family trusts
* Preparation of IHT returns, including periodic charges
* Preparation of CGT returns on the sale of residential property
* Review of tax provisioning for individuals and trusts
* Advising upon general personal taxation issues along with taxation issues arising within trusts
* Handling all HMRC correspondence and queries
* Maintenance of client entries on the HMRC Trust register
* Clients' personal taxation income streams include investment income, employment income, property income, trust income, farming income, and Lloyd's, all within an exclusively UK context
Planning responsibilities
* Planning for tax-efficient realisation of investments by individuals and trusts
* Planning in respect of trust distributions: quantum, timing and whether from income or capital
* Planning around efficient use of exemptions and reliefs
* General planning around inter-generational wealth transfers
Other responsibilities
* Preparation of corporation tax returns for six investment companies
* Maintenance of payrolls for two employees
* Preparation of forms P11D for some 8-10 employees
* Charity gift-aid claims
* Attendance at trustee meetings
* Keeping up to date with HMRC and legislation changes such as Making Tax Digital, and introducing new systems as necessary
* Assisting at shareholder and other corporate events

Qualifications, skills and competencies

* Qualified - preferably CTA, with at least 5 years relevant post qualification experience
* Reliable, self-starter able to work largely unsupervised with a high degree of autonomy
* Excellent organisational skills, proficient in Excel.
* Ability to integrate well into a small team with a flat structure
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills given the high level of direct client interaction
* Well-presented, professional, and comfortable in dealing with a very traditional client base
