Location: Nairobi, Kenya (regional responsibility)
A leading consumer goods and beverages group in East Africa is seeking to appoint a Head of Tax to lead its tax function across Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania at a pivotal point of transformation.
This is a senior leadership role with end to end responsibility for all tax matters, including corporate tax, indirect tax, excise and customs, transfer pricing and tax controversy, within a highly regulated operating environment. The role will play a central part in navigating a major ownership transition, strengthening governance, and positioning the tax function to support the next phase of the business.
The successful candidate will act as the most senior tax authority in the organisation, working closely with executive leadership and external stakeholders, including tax authorities across the region. Responsibilities include managing audits and disputes, closing legacy exposures, overseeing outsourced compliance, and building a cohesive, high performing tax team capable of operating across multiple countries.
We are interested in senior tax leaders with strong technical grounding and meaningful in house experience, ideally from FMCG, alcohol, tobacco, oil & gas or another excise heavy or highly regulated sector. A background that combines professional services training in East Africa with practical, commercial decision making in industry is highly attractive. The ability to operate with judgment, authority and credibility at executive and regulatory level is essential.
This is a rare opportunity to step into one of the most complex and visible tax leadership roles in East Africa, with genuine influence over governance, strategy and long term value creation.
