Regional Tax Analyst - LATAM, Puma Energy, Puerto Rico (open to candidates from LATAM region)

Key Responsibilities:

Tax Planning
Review the variations on the tax forecasts/budgets and give support for planning activities in the different business according priorities set with the Regional Tax Manager and the regional team.
- Give support to the different projects and new investment plans, from a tax standpoint, to the different countries in the America’s perimeter
- Able to design tax strategies to optimize the taxes, and minimize the tax burden in the different countries within the applicable legal framework

Tax Accounting / Tax Reporting:
- Leading Tax Accounting and Tax Reporting process (PETRUS direct tax: Income tax, deferred tax, capital gain tax, surcharges, minimum tax; tax receivables and payables reports, among others) and ensure the timely and reliable reporting of the tax data, provide support and training to the users.
- Contribute to standardize the methodology and provide assistance and training when they require it.

Tax Compliance:
- Monthly keep track on different tax compliance process in each country of the region.
- Standardize tax documentation (ex: RAG report (“Hoja Verde”), Extraordinary Tax issues, Tax performance report. Tax litigation cases/Tax Audits/Tax receivables, etc.) and integrate, support the Regional tax manager to take ownership and control of the various local tax compliance trackers in global tax compliance tracker system
- Review the internal tax health check process according with the Regional Team goals & best practices, standardized the methodology for verifying compliance with the various taxes, perform the Internal Tax reviews across the region, develop and communicate the recommendations and action plan and give follow up for the closing of the gaps in an adequate timeline.

Risk Management:
- Provide support and advice to Financial managers with tax audits from tax authorities and give support for those companies that are in audit process and require our assistance.
- Provide support to Regional tax manager and local Finance Team, in Dispute resolution, minimizing tax burden.
- Support on analysis of tax impact due to tax reforms, developing action plans to assure the implementation of the new regulations in place, managing the risks and coordinate the communication, coordination and follow up of the recommendations

Organization:
Population of Puma Intranet database with tax documentation , returns , reports, restricted per Region / Country and/ or entity, including but not limited to:
- Procedures and guidelines in a tax toolkit for availability of the regional staff on how to deal with various tax matters throughout the tax lifecycle (Planning, accounting, reporting, compliance, dispute resolution)
- Raising awareness to the staff across the region, including communicating tax documentation posted to Puma Intranet Database and encouraging use of this.

Transfer pricing:
- Provide support on reviewing and monitoring the Transfer pricing tax compliance in all countries across the region to Financial managers and Regional tax manager.
- Support on analysis of tax impact in Transfer pricing due to tax reforms, criteria, BEPS implications, etc. developing action plans to assure the implementation of the new regulations in place, managing the risks and coordinate the communication, coordination and follow up of the recommendations
