Direct Tax Assistant Manager / Manager

To reinforce our EAME Corporate Tax Team, we are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Direct Tax Specialist.
The position can be based from our European Headquarters either in Everberg, Belgium or Wynyard, North East England.

Our Tax team is a high performing team of 20 dedicated professionals of which 4 colleagues are located in Everberg. The work undertaken by the department is both technically and organisationally challenging, requires an attention to detail and a drive for results.

The European Tax Department is responsible for all direct tax matters within the region from tax accounting, and compliance, through transfer pricing to audit management and tax planning.

Huntsman is present in most European jurisdictions but has critical mass in the following countries, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, France and the UK.
Depending on the knowledge and experience of the successful applicant, the role will have geographical responsibilities which may be combined with a specialized responsibility such as transfer pricing, tax focused project management or tax accounting.

This role has no requirement for Indirect / VAT knowledge which is not covered by this role.

Principal Accountabilities

As the Direct Tax Specialist:

• You will be involved in accounting for income taxes;
• You will prepare tax work papers and calculations;
• You will assist with tax audits;
• You will assist with tax planning initiatives;
• You will be involved in other direct tax related responsibilities.

Requirements

• You have a strong accounting background.
• You are tax trained.
• You are likely to have up to 5 years experience in tax
• You have a strong ability in Excel modelling.
• You have superior technical skills to help analyse and monitor our FAS 109/ASC 740 financial reporting and compliance process.
• You are comfortable dealing with accounting matters and data mining from accounting information.
• You are fluent in English. Knowledge of other European languages is an asset.

The successful candidate could come from either an accounting or legal background but is likely to have trained in a professional services organisation before transferring to industry.
