Tax Planning Manager - US domestic tax, Northbrook, Illinois

Our client is a globally recognised player in their industry. They are seeking the expertise of a Domestic Tax Planning Manager to work with the Director of M&A and manage a small team. You will manage various projects associated with M&A and domestic planning activities.

Your position will include:

* Working with the Director, support the Acquisitions team pre and post acquisition
* support the development of transaction structuring and assist with due diligence;
* Manage tax technical issues on planning projects;
* Research and advise on tax technical issues, strategy implementation and risk management;
* Develops state and federal tax planning ideas;
* Ensure tax strategies align with company strategy and that they are effectively absorbed into the tax compliance process
* Collaborate with the Audit team on defending tax audits and the defence process
* Develop, mentor and coach more junior members of staff
* Monitor tax legislation and provide advice on tax issues
* Manage consulting relationships for projects including scoping the project and assigning deliverables.

Qualifications

* Bachelors degree inn Finance or Accounting as well as at least 5 years in public accounting and/or a large multinational.
* Experience with technical tax laws, regulations and the interpretation of these laws.
* Direct or indirect supervisory experience is beneficial
* Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft office experience
* CPA or Masters in Tax preferred
