The London office of this established law firm is looking to recruit a talented ACA qualified tax practitioner with 3-5 years of post-qualified experience.
This is a varied role and you will be involved in corporation tax compliance and consultancy services, providing general tax advice and planning work, some VAT and personnel management.
Tax compliance and consultancy:
Review of corporation tax returns including a sound knowledge of general tax treatment, capital allowances and deferred tax
Working with auditors
Dealing with HMRC and Tax Inspectors
Considering planning opportunities and providing advice accordingly
Coordinating multi-territory compliance filings for clients engaged for multi-territory services
Attending and co-ordinating UK tax compliance audits and enquiries for clients
Reviewing the work of others on tax compliance, tax accounting, deferred tax and proof of tax
VAT work:
Consider all relevant VAT issues for clients on an ongoing basis, from both UK and international perspectives, including advising on ad hoc queries, cross border sales, import and export VAT & MOSS
Inward Investment
VAT registration and returns, payroll year-end returns and other tax related statutory filings prepared in respect of clients
Harness your general understanding of helping companies set up in the UK (or elsewhere) including an awareness of the various registrations and statutory filings
Client management:
Being the main point of contact for a portfolio of clients on tax issues, responding to queries in a timely and informative manner, managing compliance and identifying opportunities for both the client and the firm as a whole
Managing clients’ expectations with regards to anticipated delivery dates and response times
Liaising with other departments, billing and account management, proposal and engagement compliance and managing a good business relationship with the client team
Assisting the partners and team on various projects where tax advice is required
Dealing with queries from all departments on tax issues
Carrying out research into specific areas of taxation
Attending training courses to improve your technical knowledge
People development:
Work with a team of tax consultants and assistants, with a focus on setting their objectives and assisting with their development as tax professionals via timely and constructive feedback, together with providing support and assistance to their training programme
Work closely with other managers and assistant managers to help structure the department
Participate in training, whether leading or attending relevant courses, webinars etc
Managing relations with other departments and interacting with the relevant staff to ensure joined up relationships across all client facing teams
Managing internal communications and contributing to management meetings in respect of the tax department
About you:
An ACA or ACCA qualified accountant with post qualification experience gained in an accountancy firm or law firm
Perhaps currently an assistant manager looking for a step up to a first full managerial position
Experience of working with a portfolio of clients
Excellent management and communication skills
Strong technical knowledge, with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail
Ability to manage own tasks, good time management and able to work under pressure to tight deadlines
Language skills would be an advantage but are not essential for this position
