Tax Specialist - Proprietary Trading Firm, London

Wilkinson Partners are currently working with a dynamic proprietary trading firm who are looking to hire a Tax Specialist to advise their trading floor. The successful candidate will have responsibility for all aspects of tax, and will work alongside the current Tax Specialist. They will report directly to the CFO, making this an excellent opportunity for a commercially focused tax accountant or lawyer to play a key role in a young and fast-growing business.

Role Specifications

Operational tax
• Provide advice to traders on transactions taxes, including and not limited to: stamp duty; capital gains tax, withholding tax; French and
Italian FTT
• Assisting with dividend withholding tax reclaims

Group tax
• Provision of advice to the business on all aspects of taxation
• Assist CFO with project management and research on expansion projects and business
• Develop transfer pricing policies when needed
• Optimise tax structure and expansion
• Manage relationship with external advisors
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the ever-changing tax environments (e.g. BEPS, global transaction taxes)

Compliance
• Assisting with group’s UK, US and HK tax compliance matters for: CT; VAT; PAYE; & Form 42, Facta & CRS. This includes reviewing
computations and ensuring timely submission

Candidate Specifications

• Experience in a tax or accounting tax role preferable in a big four as a solid manager or senior manager, or in a law firm, or in-house in a
similar environment
• Strong attention to detail with ability to step back and see the big picture
• Good knowledge of key UK legislation across all areas (CT, VAT, Employment Tax, Stamp Duty)
• Experience in financial services and some knowledge of equities and derivatives
• Able to engage with traders and convert complex tax matters into plain language
• An ability to work on a large number of differing projects and multi-task
• Able to lead projects on your own, work independently and challenge answers
• Strong drive, proactive, excellent common sense, ready to take a challenge
• US tax experience and CTA qualification is desirable
