As part of the firm’s expansion plans, a CTA qualified adviser (or tax lawyer) is sought, who specialises in employee share schemes and reward, to work closely with the lead partner in this niche area of tax.
You will be a well organised and confident communicator, technically strong and familiar with handling all aspects of employee share incentives including scheme design, valuation, scheme drafting and advising clients undertaking transactions.
From advising on straightforward EMIs and other statutory share schemes, to structuring growth shares and assisting clients wishing to settle complex EBT structures, you can look forward to quality and variety in your working day.
You will have the chance to provide advice on projects involving companies that are at the early stage of setting up their business, to more established listed groups. The team does not often advise on share schemes in isolation and will frequently be involved in the wider commercial planning and tax affairs of the clients.
The main duties and responsibilities of your role will include:
Providing technical advice and support to clients on employee share schemes and related issues, both verbally and in writing
Participating in the design and implementation of employee share schemes and assisting with the associated reporting obligations
Working in collaboration with senior management to build awareness and recognition in the market of the firm’s Employer Consulting offering and assisting with the development and growth of the Employer Consulting team
Assisting with and managing a range of share incentives implementation, tax consultancy and transactional work
Dealing with technical correspondence and queries, gathering input from colleagues within the practice when applicable and discussing with your line manager, who will review the work
Building and maintaining professional relationships within the firm and externally, including attending seminars, networking functions and contributing to marketing and business development initiatives, writing articles etc
About you:
CTA qualified with at least two years of post-qualification experience, or a qualified lawyer with tax experience
Experience of dealing with employee share schemes and a willingness to take on some of the legal work related to employee share schemes
A background in employment taxes with a knowledge of personal taxes would be advantageous, as would some familiarity with corporate tax
Being able to field telephone queries on various matters involving both tax planning issues and general tax compliance relating to employment taxes
A good understanding and awareness of tax compliance requirements
Capable of running with own projects while also being a team player who is keen to contribute to the further growth and success of the organisation
