Wilkinson Partners are currently working alongside our Big 4 client who are looking for an indirect tax professional to join their in-house tax team, which is responsible for the firm's internal tax affairs in the UK and the personal tax affairs of the partnership. This newly created role is for a VAT Manager to join the team to focus primarily on handling the UK firm's overseas indirect tax obligations. This is not a client facing role and the successful candidate will be responsible for the tax affairs of the Big 4 firm only.
You will be responsible for:
- Working alongside the overseas tax manager, client service teams and overseas advisors to identify and report on foreign indirect tax issues that could apply to the UK firm
- Managing the accurate filing of overseas indirect tax returns for the UK firm
- Taking on the responsibility of establishing, managing and submitting foreign VAT claims within the EU
- Responsible for the day to day management and provision of VAT advice via a dedicated internal VAT Helpline
- Working with the VAT assistant manager to deliver VAT training across finance
- Assisting the senior manager to ensure that the UK firm’s systems, processes, procedures and reporting methods remain compliant with current and upcoming changes in VAT legislation
- Provide support and backup to the VAT assistant manager during the compilation of the quarterly VAT return and other statistical returns
- Corresponding with HMRC on matters that require formal disclosure or notification
- Keeping up to date on external matters affecting KPMG and the impact they will have on the firm: developments in making tax digital, Brexit, case law
- Provide support and backup to the senior manager, which will include the coaching and management of junior team members
The successful candidate will:
- Be CTA qualified or equivalent
- Have experience in practice, HMRC, or in a similar in-house environment
- Have a good understanding of UK VAT legislation
