Private Client Tax Specialist - CTA Qualified

Location: London, UK Salary: Circa £120,000

Are you an experienced private client tax specialist looking for a challenging role in a highly regarded tax advisory firm? We are seeking a CTA-qualified professional with at least three years of post-qualification tax advisory experience to join a close-knit and supportive team of experts.

This position requires a tax specialist with strong independent research skills, analytical thinking, and the ability to work under time pressure with minimal supervision. The successful candidate will work on high-value, complex, and often contentious tax matters, advising high-net-worth individuals, trustees, family offices, and their professional advisers on bespoke tax strategies. The role includes:

* UK and offshore tax planning
* Residence and domicile issues
* Private client advisory work
* HMRC enquiries, tax administration, and appeals
* Wealth structuring involving trusts, partnerships, and corporate entities
* Property taxation and corporate restructuring
* International taxation matters

To be successful in this role, you must have:

* CTA qualification (essential)
* Minimum three years of post-qualification experience in tax advisory
* Excellent academic background (2:1 undergraduate degree minimum, plus strong A-Levels and GCSEs or equivalent)
* Strong problem-solving skills, an excellent memory, and highly articulate written and spoken English
* Experience drafting detailed tax advisory reports and distilling complex concepts
* A solid understanding of key English legal concepts underpinning tax law, including trusts, contracts, partnerships, and insolvency
* A professional background in a law firm, accountancy practice, wealth management firm, trust corporation, or family office

Desirable Attributes

* Full STEP membership (England & Wales)
* Preference given to English LLB or GDL graduates

Client Base & Interaction

You will work closely with high and ultra-high-net-worth individuals, business owners, trustees, and their professional advisers (solicitors, accountants, wealth managers). The role requires significant direct client contact, so confidence and experience in handling demanding clients and high-profile cases is essential.

Expertise Required in UK Taxation

Candidates should have demonstrable experience in at least one or more of the following areas:

* All direct taxes (Income Tax, CGT, IHT, ATED, SDLT, and key anti-avoidance provisions)
* Private client taxation (residence, domicile, remittances, double taxation issues, trusts, estates, and investment holding structures)
* Corporation Tax & VAT (for SMEs, partnerships, corporate restructuring)
* Tax administration & HMRC interactions (enquiries, appeals, statutory reviews, GAAR, CRS/FATCA/MDR, public registers)

Our client is committed to a policy of equality, diversity, and inclusion-please do not hesitate to request any special requirements during the recruitment process.

If you are highly motivated, detail-oriented, and eager to develop your expertise in a rigorous tax advisory environment, I would love to hear from you! Please get in touch on sallymcintyre- 07920 759 471
