I am working with an Entertainment business based in West London who are sourcing a Head of Tax to join their team, and report into the Group Finance Director. You will manage a small team of one other tax person, and have overall responsibility for taxes for managing tax risks, compliance obligations across group and international territories, as well as managing global reporting and supporting the business on tax matters that relate to commercial projects.

Your role will include the below responsibilities:

Business Partnering

* Manage relationships with external stakeholders including HMRC, auditors and tax advisors
* Work with key stakeholders for any other corporate tax requirements which may arise and may include - transaction advice on business or property disposals or acquisitions, refinancing or other restructuring related projects
* Proactively identifying opportunities for tax efficiencies within the group including tax reliefs and capital allowances
* Support the UK and Ireland finance team with quarterly VAT return filings

Delivery and Reporting

* Ultimate responsibility for UK corporation tax return filings to HMRC
* Responsible for corporation tax matters across the group
* Provision of day-to-day tax support to other territories (in UK and Europe) as well as maintaining tax technical awareness alongside local tax advisers
* Monitoring Pillar 2 regulations and compliance requirements and leading on Pillar 2 readiness for the group
* Overall responsibility for country-by-country reporting submissions
* Delivery of the year-end tax reporting figures and disclosures for the IFRS consolidated group accounts, liaising with the statutory auditors where required
* Management of tax related aspects of group financing, including thin capitalisation reviews, FX management including maintenance of hedging arrangements, CIR calculations, WHT administration and compliance etc.

Governance

* Development of the group and territory tax control framework and identification of areas of potential weakness or opportunities for improvement, in order to support the annual senior accounting officer requirements and submissions
* Ensuring appropriate knowledge is obtained and maintained around direct and indirect tax compliance obligations and monitoring compliance with these obligations on a regular basis
* Responsible for coordinating and maintaining the group transfer pricing policy (and associated documentation) and for monitoring global requirements and changes in legislation, determining the policy to be adopted and reviewing the calculated recharges required on a quarterly basis
* Design and management of processes to ensure tax efficient cross-border cash movements into/out of and around the group

Other Duties

* Responsibility for identifying and mitigating tax risks. This includes anticipating changes to current tax environment
* Managing and coordinating tax authority audits as required
* Provision of cash tax forecasts
* Proactively identifying opportunities for tax efficiencies within the group including tax reliefs and capital allowances
* Management of the intercompany transaction process, across both trading and loan balances

The ideal candidate will have the below experience:

* Proven success in a group tax role within a fast paced, high volume, multi-site business within the retail, leisure or hospitality industry with exposure to the European market
* Significant experience in an industry role is essential
* A solid understanding of IFRS
* Proven success in communication of technical tax rules in a clear, easy to understand manner to non-tax personnel
* Experience of working on complex projects in conjunction with legal and finance consultants
* Experience of working in businesses with different ownership structures is desired
* Fully qualified ACA/CTA
