The Opportunity

A highly regarded and growing independent accountancy and advisory firm is looking to appoint a Mixed Tax Assistant Manager to join its expanding tax team. The firm has developed an excellent reputation for delivering high-quality compliance and advisory services to a broad portfolio of entrepreneurial businesses, owner-managed companies, and high-net-worth individuals.
This opportunity is particularly well suited to someone who enjoys advisory-led work and is looking to continue developing within a commercially focused and technically strong environment. While the role will retain exposure to mixed tax matters, there is a clear preference for individuals with stronger corporate tax advisory experience and an interest in working on more complex business-related projects.

The firm operates with a highly collaborative culture and offers far greater client exposure and autonomy than many larger corporate practices. Individuals are encouraged to take ownership of relationships, contribute commercially, and become actively involved in advisory conversations from an early stage.

The Role The position will involve a combination of corporate and personal tax work, although the role is expected to lean more heavily towards corporate tax advisory assignments. The successful candidate will work closely with senior leadership and Partners across a broad range of advisory projects while also supporting the wider tax function on complex compliance matters where required.

Exposure is likely to include:

- Corporate restructures and reorganisations
- Share schemes and shareholder planning
- Business incorporations and transactional support
- Group structuring and demergers
- Capital gains and shareholder tax planning
- Owner-managed business advisory work
- HMRC correspondence and clearances
- Corporate tax compliance oversight
- Mixed tax advisory support for entrepreneurial clients and private individuals

Key Responsibilities

- Managing a portfolio of corporate and mixed tax clients.
- Supporting senior leadership on advisory and transactional projects.
- Delivering technically strong corporate tax advice to owner-managed businesses and entrepreneurial clients.
- Reviewing corporate tax computations and related compliance work.
- Assisting with tax planning assignments and implementation work.
- Developing and maintaining strong client relationships.
- Supporting and mentoring junior team members where appropriate.
- Identifying opportunities to add value and strengthen client service delivery.

Candidate Profile

- CTA, ACA, ACCA, ATT qualified or qualified by experience.
- Strong mixed tax background with a preference towards corporate tax advisory work.
- Demonstrable experience working on advisory-led assignments.
- Previous experience within an accountancy practice or tax advisory environment.
- Strong communication and client management skills.
- Commercially minded with the ability to build trusted client relationships.
- Motivated by progression and keen to continue developing technically and professionally.
- Experience mentoring or reviewing junior staff would be advantageous.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

- Highly regarded independent firm with an excellent reputation.
- Strong emphasis on advisory and client-facing work.
- Broad and varied client portfolio.
- Collaborative and commercially focused culture.
- Genuine autonomy and responsibility.
- Excellent long-term progression opportunities.
- Opportunity to work closely with senior leadership and decision-makers.
- Competitive salary banding reflective of experience and technical capability.

Culture & Values My client is committed to equality, diversity, and inclusion, fostering an environment where all individuals are valued and encouraged to reach their full potential. The firm values technical excellence, integrity, enthusiasm, and collegiality, providing a workplace where professionals can thrive while delivering outstanding client service.
