I am working with a FTSE 250 business based in Hampshire who are recruiting for a first time tax hire into their team, to report into the Group Financial Controller.

This role would suit a Senior Manager making their first move into industry, or someone already in house looking to make a step up into a stand-alone role to run a function.

This will be the Group's first dedicated in-house tax appointment, providing a unique opportunity to establish and shape the Group's tax function as the business continues its significant growth trajectory.

Responsibilities will include:

* Devise the Group's tax strategy, tax risk register and tax policies
* Maintain the Group's tax governance framework, including supporting compliance with SAO requirements, publication of the Group tax strategy and reporting to the Audit Committee

* Preparation of the UK corporation tax returns
* Preparation of the year-end and half-year tax accounting workings under IFRS
* Oversee the overseas tax compliance processes, working closely with outsourced providers in each territory
* Oversee the Group's transfer pricing strategy, compliance and documentation
* Lead the implementation and ongoing compliance processes for BEPS Pillar II and CBCR
* Undertake regular VAT, employment taxes and customs health checks across the Group
* Forecast the Group's ETR and cash tax payments
* Provide strategic tax advice on proposed transactions, restructurings and the efficient management of the Group's tax affairs
* Increase tax awareness across the Group and provide tax training to the businesses as required

The successful candidate will:

* Hold an ACA, ACCA, CTA or equivalent qualification, with significant relevant corporate tax experience

* Ideally have demonstrable experience working at, or with, UK listed businesses
* Have experience of preparing UK corporate tax returns
* Have experience of preparing year-end and half-year tax accounting workings under IFRS
* Have experience advising on and implementing BEPS Pillar II and CBCR
* Have an awareness of key VAT and employment tax issues
* Be comfortable working alone and operating as a team player, along with the ability to influence a wide range of stakeholders
* Have strong technical writing and communication skills - able to translate complex tax requirements into clear, actionable guidance for non-tax specialists, auditors, the audit committee and board
* Have the ability to assess the importance of issues identified and suggest practical solutions
* Be confident in presenting and defending arguments
