Your responsibilities as a R&D Tax Director
This is an exciting opportunity for motivated individuals with experience in R&D tax claims to join EY’s fast-growing and highly successful Innovation Incentives team. We are seeking enthusiastic engineers or scientists to play a key role in a dynamic and expanding practice. In this role, you will lead R&D tax engagements with clients, working closely with lead engineers as well as finance and tax departments across a variety of sectors. You will be responsible for the high-quality delivery of R&D claims for submission to HMRC, while taking an active role in client communications. Alongside managing the delivery of R&D tax services, you will support the development of junior team members, build and maintain strong client relationships, and identify opportunities to expand services. You will also contribute to business growth by managing existing client accounts and supporting the development of new ones, while acting as the main point of contact for day-to-day client liaison.
Requirements
We are looking for a R&D Tax professional with proven experience and strong relationship management skills, capable of managing client expectations while building lasting partnerships. You’ll bring a genuine curiosity to understand the latest cutting-edge technologies used across industries, along with strong technical expertise and advanced Excel skills for handling large and complex datasets. With excellent communication skills and confidence in client-facing discussions, you will be comfortable engaging with senior technical and finance stakeholders.
You’ll demonstrate initiative while maintaining a collaborative, team-oriented approach. To qualify, you must hold a degree in Engineering or Science, with excellent communication, negotiation, and people management skills, and the adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Ideally, you will also bring project management experience, industry-specific knowledge, and a proven ability to prioritise, manage deadlines, and monitor budgets.
