Tax Senior
Overview An opportunity to join a well-established, growing and forward-thinking business and advisory firm based in Surrey. The firm provides accounting and tax solutions to support entrepreneurial and high-growth businesses, as well as private clients.
Working as part of a collaborative and friendly Tax team, the successful candidate will be responsible for a broad range of tax compliance and advisory work. This role plays a key part in meeting clientsβ evolving needs and delivering long-term, sustainable value to both businesses and individuals.
The position offers exposure to personal and corporate tax compliance, alongside advisory and planning work, including Self Assessment, Corporation Tax, Capital Gains Tax, Inheritance Tax, Trust Tax returns, and general tax planning advice. This is an office-based role and would suit a driven, ambitious, and versatile individual looking to take the next step in their tax career.
Qualifications and Experience
- ACA / ACCA / CTA qualified, or qualified by experience
- Strong background in personal and/or corporate tax within an accountancy practice
- Proven experience preparing tax computations, returns, and advisory work for a varied client portfolio
- Solid understanding of UK tax legislation and HMRC compliance requirements
- Experience reviewing the work of junior staff and managing client relationships
- Proficiency with tax and accounting software such as CCH, IRIS, or similar systems
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare and review corporation tax and personal tax returns for a diverse client base
- Undertake tax planning assignments, advising on allowances, reliefs, and structuring opportunities
- Manage compliance deadlines and ensure timely submission of all tax filings
- Review tax computations prepared by junior team members and provide constructive feedback
- Assist with HMRC enquiries, responding professionally and efficiently
- Support partners and managers with advisory projects, technical research, and analysis
- Maintain accurate documentation and ensure work complies with relevant standards and legislation
- Manage a client portfolio, ensuring high-quality service delivery and efficient workflow management

- Strong analytical ability to interpret tax legislation and apply it to client scenarios
- Ability to identify tax risks, issues, and opportunities, recommending practical solutions
- Exercise sound judgement in complex tax matters, escalating issues where appropriate
- Conduct detailed technical research and present clear, concise conclusions
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail when reviewing computations
Communication Skills
- Build rapport with clients through clear, proactive, and timely communication
- Draft professional correspondence, reports, and HMRC submissions
- Confident discussing tax matters with partners, colleagues, and clients
- Provide clear guidance and constructive feedback to junior staff

- Support the development of junior team members through coaching and mentoring
- Promote a positive team culture and encourage best practice
- Delegate effectively, balancing workloads and ensuring deadlines are met
